Chasing 'That Teenage Feeling'

I have recently come into the possession of a Rolling Stone magazine which includes a little write-up on Neko Case. I was also at an independent record store the other day for unrelated reasons and found myself studying the Neko Case CDs. This was because although I had not yet read the article, I had furtively glanced at the accompanying provocative photography (and had thus appraised Ms. Case as possibly my type). The CD-browsing, meanwhile, inspired me to finally read the article while stuffing myself with all-you-can-eat pizza on my lunch break.

Anyway, in a little sidebar to the profile (which makes Case seem both relatable and mean), it mentions that her finest moment might be a song called "That Teenage Feeling." So today while hopping around YouTube looking at music videos — first the AOL Sessions version of Coldplay's "The Scientist" and then the original one for "Common People" by Pulp — I figured, why not see if that Neko Case song is on there?

Anyway, it is. Sort of. There's a bunch of live versions shot by people with their cellphones and handicams — but those are generally of such poor quality that they're not very good for new-artist discovery. Luckily, a filmmaker had posted the song as the audio track to a video of herself laying in the grass.

Finally, while searching for the lyrics, I came across a blog post written about the song that struck me as brilliantly written and honest. I recommend hitting play on the video and clicking over to the post. It's worth it.

Neko Case, I might look into. Or I might just leave it at that.

Scarlett Johansson is a clone

The other day I received an email from a mysterious person calling himself "Serge G." As I had never heard of this individual before, my instinct was to trash the message and go about my day. But the first line of Serge's email clearly stated, "IT IS NOT A SPAM" ... obviously I had to read on.

I'm glad I did. Because despite his broken English and complete disregard for sentence structure, Serge had a very important piece of information to bestow — something the liberal media has been trying to sweep under the rug for years: Scarlett Johansson is a clone.

In fact, not only is Scarlett a clone but the original Scarlett (last name Galabekian) and her family are "very desperate" to end clone Scarlett's career, ostensibly because the clone's galavanting Hollywood lifestyle is offensive to the original's modest Christian values and all the "movies, images, videos, rumors and etc." are causing the Galabekian clan all kinds of mental anguish — especially since "original Scarlett's family did not authorize any activity with stolen biological materials."

What's more, clone Scarlett is not the only one! In fact, according to Serge, we "can not even imagine the scale of the cloning activity" that is taking place in "GERMANY - world leader manufacturer of human clones." Serge goes on to caution us that the German cloning facility uses Nazi-type discipline and mind-controlling techniques and that if one gets "close with clones you will be controlled as well." So stay on your toes!

Before signing off, Serge had to set the record straight about one last thing: "Original Scarlett never was engaged, by the way!" Phew.
