Ohio Jones: The Action Figure
So all this promotion the new Indiana Jones movie is a little unsettling.
For one thing, I can't decide if this makes Ohio Jones more or less relevant. For another, it vastly eclipses anything done for the original three movies. I mean, where were all these toys when I was a kid?
Of course, on the positive side, I'm now able to create a reasonable plastic facsimile of Dr. Tupac Jones, Jr. (Still needs an eyepatch and a glove but what're you gonna do? Wal-Mart apparently stopped selling model paint.)

I agree, I searched hard and long for Indiana Jones anything years ago. Now everytime I turn on the tv I hear the damn theme. I drive past a BK and see the Indy Double Whopper. Im at Target and they have dozens of toys from board games to legos. I even watched a special on SciFi channel last night about the "real" crystal skulls. As long as I have been waiting for this, I wish it was more of a treat to hear that ever popular theme song...
Amen to that, brother. Well said.
Ha ha...I tivo'd the crystal skull special and got about halfway through it last night (***hand-made crystal skull replicas may be purchased on my web site for a limited time only***). And I'm sorry, but nothing will ever compare to the "Monkey Brain Monday" McDonald's was famous for preceding the release of The Temple of Doom.
P.S. I have no web site and therefore sell no fake crystal skulls. Sorry.
"Monkey Brain Monday" = brilliant
I heard on NPR yesterday that one of the reasons for all this merchandising (Lego especially) is to introduce today's kids to Indy because apparently modern parents are not instilling in their kids an appreciation of the classics. (Present company excluded, of course.)
Incidentally, I was at Borders today and I came across "The Journal of Indiana Jones", which is a mock-up of a scrapbook the character kept to record his adventures. I have to admit it was pretty cool -- in fact, I almost purchased it -- but something about being on a table full of Indiana Jones books, movies and board games makes it seem less than special.
Of course. Logan just watched all three movies (in chronological order by storyline as opposed to production) this weekend. It was only his second time ever, but considering he just hit 7 y/o, I think we're doing okay.
I may have to go pick up that scrapbook. For him, I mean. Yah, that's it. For him.
Chronological order? You are too cool.
Am I imagining that he looks like Ewan?
Good eye. Indeed, that is the head of Ewan McGreggor.
