Brickyard 400

So after 18 years living in this town (give or take two or four, depending on how you want to look at it), I finally made it out to the track to catch a race. In this case, it was the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

What have I learned?

  1. Bringing in a cooler full of PBR and Pizza Hut is a good start but also bring enough cash to buy lemonade, chicken fingers, French fries, a corndog and a strawberry freeze if you are looking to really enjoy the complete experience.

  2. Honestly, the race is kind of boring. So try to nap for about a 100 laps in a shaded field.
  3. Do not wear a bandanna.

Yup, the race is kinda boring... that's why I prefer the infield. :) More room, more fun, less heat, less danger in drinking/trying to walk up the bleachers. Of course, for those who love actually watching, I suppose the stands hold some appeal. (For future reference though, you can go up a hilll in turn 3 if you're in the infield and catch the cars going by, so you don't miss that entirely.)
